What do you feel your life purpose is? You may never know. What feels right? All of our dreams, desires, wants and needs are different. Although, our very being here on this earth, I feel, is the same. We should all live a life that makes us happy. That can be very difficult at times with the demands of society and the need to live, meaning having to pay rent/mortgage, car payment and everyday struggles to sustain our lives. But can we do this thing called life and actually enjoy, revel and be fulfilled and not just go through the motions. Maybe this post should be named “living a fulfilled life”. Purpose and fulfillment can actually go hand in hand. Anyway, I digress. Again, what is your purpose? What makes you fulfilled?
Straight out of high school, I had no clue what to do with my life. I didn’t know my purpose or passion yet. It took a couple years and a television commercial to set off the light bulb in my head like “ah ha, this is it!” It really never occurred to me you could have a career cooking for other people. Duh! After realizing that I had always loved cooking and creating great meals, I ventured into culinary school and then quickly shifted my passion from savory cuisine to pastries and all things sweet. This led me to having my own business designing wedding cakes and other sweet treats. During that time in my life, my purpose and passion was baking and stuffing the faces of sweet addicts like myself.
Life then took a turn, which in all honesty I cannot say for better or for worse. A new chapter had begun for me when I decided to end my professional love affair with sweets and shifted my focus on skincare. It seems like a natural shift thinking about it now. I went from formulating sinful desserts to formulating natural skincare products that helped with my daily routine. After positive feedback from friends who encouraged me to try it professionally, Dulce Earth was born.
Although my career has changed this does not mean the last chapter was not my purpose and not fulfilling. It’s what lead me to where I am now. Your purpose may be temporary or for the “right now” but it can lead you to your ultimate passion and happiness. There is the here and now and there is tomorrow. What you chose to do with your here and now for your tomorrow is up to you. We can all take baby steps toward our purpose and passion of our lives or jump right on in. There’s no wrong way as long as you are loving what you do. We only have one life to live and there are no do overs. Live your most fulfilled life, the way you want it and have no regrets, just lessons learned.
