We all have different hair types, textures, colors and lengths. But I’m sure we all strive for the same thing. HEALTHY HAIR! Yes, there are countless products out there promising this at crazy prices and it’s all a risk for us to try these products for the benefits we are wanting. Let me share with you a quick, easy and inexpensive way to nourish and condition your hair at home with two simple ingredients.
First of all, healthy hair and skin all start from within. Drink lots of water throughout the day, at least half your body weight in ounces. This truly does make a difference. Now to the fun and easy part of a great weekly hair treatment.
Portion equal parts coconut oil and raw honey in a heat proof bowl. I use organic coconut oil and honey that’s easily found in my area for a reasonable price. You will need about 1/2 cup of each of these depending on hair length. Melt the two ingredients in the microwave for 15 to 30 seconds. You just want the coconut oil to melt but you don’t want the mixture to be HOT, just warm. Remove from microwave and mix together with fork or whisk until well combined. Pour over your hair and massage into it really well. This can get messy so wear an old shirt or protect with towel. Once it’s worked into the hair, place a plastic cap or bag over your hair. Now….timing is everything. If you have lots of time, like an hour, then let it sit for an hour on your hair while you empty the dishwasher or sort dirty laundry. Make yourself busy, the longer it sits in your hair the better the results. I would say the minimum time to leave it on there would be 30 minutes. I’ve done it up to two hours. Anyway, once time it up, rinse and shampoo your hair. I usually have to shampoo twice to get out the excess oil and stickiness of the honey. Follow up with your favorite conditioner and you’re all set. Whether you blow it dry or let it air dry naturally, you will feel the difference. This really does make your hair softer and shinier.
Now that you have some extra $$ from making this at home hair treatment, go buy yourself a new lipstick.
